Here's another I just remembered....

Kirtis was helping Jackson change out of his church shirt this Sunday, Jackson was trying to rip it off, and Kirtis showed him how the buttons work, and that by using the buttons it is much easier to get the shirt off.
Jackson's response: Wow daddy. That's amazing!
Buttons. Truly amazing!

Funny things Jackson says

After serving him a gourmet ham and cheese sandwich:
"Thank-oo mommy! I so powd of you!"

The Memory Keeper's Daughter by Kim Edwards

Sue Monk Kidd called this book "mesmerizing" and so far I have not been disappointed. In fact, its magnetic pull is overcoming my very strong desire to clean the bathroom and sweep the kitchen floor.

6 Things about me

A. The rules of the game are posted at the beginning.
B. Each player lists 6 facts/habits about themselves.
C. At the end of the post, the player then tags 6 people and posts their names, then goes to their blogs and leaves them a comment, letting them know that they have been tagged and asking them to read your blog.

I have been tagged by Sandy Turner- Thanks sandy! This was not easy for me!

Six Facts/Habits about myself:
1. I grew up in the South- Mississippi and Texas, and have escaped with no Southern accent. Although I did have a pretty cute little twang while I lived there.
2. I love to bake: cookies, cakes, pies, rolls. Pretty much anything with sugar and flour in it and I'm there.
3. I have recently learned to love working out and running. I ran a half-marathon right before I became pregnant and it was such a huge accomplishment for me. It was such a rush! I can't wait to get back to that after the baby comes.
4. My favorite thing to do with Jackson is kiss his little neck. The way he giggles reminds me of his baby days. I love it!
5. I secretly love doing laundry...Don't tell! I DESPISE ironing.
6. I left Kirtis for 18 months to serve a mission in Hawaii. It was AWESOME. But nothing compares to being married to him. Love you honey.

I tag: Angie, Hayley, Stephanie, Veronica, Lynette and Sunny

My china man

Well, after TEN LONG days, my chinaman is home!
He came bearing lots of gifts: tons of DVD's, some sweet new coats for us all, awesome knock off purses for me and the REAL DEAL pearls: necklace and earrings. They are so classy and beautiful. I can't wait to wear them to church tomorrow. I feel like a real grown up in them!
And the best part about him coming home is that it marks the near finish of his MBA! This is time to celebrate, people. Basically he has a month and a half of school and then he finishes his MBA, and all he has to do is go to work and come home and we can be together. Every night if we feel like it. No homework, no night classes. And two weeks after that, our little baby will be here. I breathe a sigh of relief at the thought!

Where the green grass grows

Here's our lovely backyard. Big difference from the huge dirt pile that Jackson used to play in. Kirtis got our garden boxes built for next spring, and then we are hoping to put a gate in the back because there is supposed to eventually be a park where there is now a big field behind our house.
Here's a closer up shot. Amazing that these tiny seeds have grown this much in less than a month. This whole "growing stuff" thing we are trying is pretty catchy.

Here's an even closer, close up shot. This is actually one of the more sparse places, but with the rain we had over the weekend, and the sun we've been having, I am a believer.

The little guy

I chased Jackson around the morning before he started preschool, and finally backed him in the corner by the hose, where he had no choice but to smile for the camera.
I just got these pics off the camera and I was shocked that they actually turned out pretty cute!
He looks so big, it breaks my heart a little. :)

Here's a little cheese for ya.

Wondrous Weekend

So Kirtis and I took a "day off" together and it was heaven!
He leaves for China for ten days on Wednesday, so it was perfect timing.
He had friday off work, and his mom is in town visiting, so she babysat while we went to the temple, shopping, movies, lunch, dinner etc. etc.! It was so nice to do grown-up stuff and not worry about Jackson running around, getting lost, getting hit by a car, or touching and breaking things when we are out and about.
I just feel so relaxed and ready to take on the next couple of weeks while Kirtis is gone.

As for Potty training, it is down the tube for the moment. Jackson is such a strong willed little guy right now, that we just have too many battles. Just getting dressed in the morning is such a fighting-screaming-kicking ordeal, that I can't bring one more fight between the two of us! Plus I can't for the moment handle the thought of any more uncontained poo. Ah, but sometimes when I think I'd like to just trade him in for a 4 year old, he'll sing me a song and put his little arms around my neck and smack a big one right on my lips and say I wuv-oo mommy, and then I think this whole mommy thing is not half bad.

The Wednesday Letters by Jason F. Wright

I read this book in just a couple of days. It was a sweet story, definitely a "feel good" type book. I really liked it. Anybody who lives nearby is welcome to borrow it, just let me know!

Here's what Glenn Beck had to say about it,

"Reminiscent of The Notebook, Jason's latest book is a love story unashamed of portraying values. It's entertainment with edge, heart, adventure, longing, mystery and honor. Romance and magic still live!"
