The Beloved

I can't remember the moment when Jackson's soft blue blanket magically transformed into the beloved "bankie" that it now is. But it started like this.

And then one day, Jackson was going to bed and said, "I need my puppy!!!!" What puppy? Oh, this puppy that's been sitting at the bottom of a toy basket for months. Okay. Here you go buddy. And they've been sleeping together ever since. "Bankie and puppy" have been the standby for months now....

...until the shark and fish entered the scene.

And just to round things off, "horsie" has happily joined the gang.

The whole crew: Bankie, puppy, shark, fish and horsie.

Now let's just pray that NONE of them ever get lost!

Cake secrets

Because I think you are super cool, I am sharing a new cake secret with you. Check it out. (And yes, it HAS been months since I've done anything culinary or cakey or creative at all. And I blame it entirely on Avery Jane. But for the record she is all worth it.)

My friend Megan said they have football sprinkles at Target right now, so you could be a real hit at your superbowl party, showing up with these delicious and beautifully iced cupcakes and nobody will know it wasn't hard at all.

Stomach bug!

We survived Jackson's second bout with the stomach flu! It was a fun-filled night. Holding the bowl for him to throw up in, cleaning the carpet, doing 4,567 loads of laundry. He's kept his pedialyte popsicles in all day and ate half a bagel tonight. So I think it's over.
Thank Heaven it was a short bug!

The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls

I loved this book!
Run out and read it. You will not be disappointed. This story was so fascinating to me, I can't stop thinking about it.

I love to see the temple...

So, Jackson is starting to pick up on all these great songs and lessons that he is learning while he is at church. A few weeks ago, we were having a conversation at dinner about someone who had been married in the temple.

Jackson said, "I want to be marry in the temple."
I beamed with pride! We haven't even really been teaching him that. How great, I thought!
Then he turned to my sister and said, "And you can be Joseph in the temple!"

And the not so sweet or cute....

We are still working with J on the transition from diapers to toilet. He has a strange relationship with #2. Here are the places we have discovered the lovely brown stuff:

In a pile on the floor of his bedroom.
Hidden in the floor vent of his bedroom.
Smeared on his bedroom walls.
Holding it in his hand: "Mommy, I went poo! Let's go put it in the potty!"

Strangely, we have yet to find #2 actually in the toilet.

Sweet Baby

Okay, here's more pictures of our gorgeous gal. To say we adore her is quite the understatement.
Also, in case you were wondering, I have learned how to nurse a baby and type at the same time. I'm quite the multi-tasker like that.

Avery Jane

Hello friends! Well I have finally gotten back on the computer. It's been a great relaxing few weeks. Lots of snuggle time with our new sweet baby and lots of naps.
My mother in law Kristi was here helping for a few weeks and it was great to have someone take care of Jackson, the house and make sure I got a nap in every day. Then my sister Tammy flew in a few days early before school at BYU started. What a great help!

So, this is my first week doing things on my own. So far so good. Avery had a doctor's appointment this morning and is now 8 lbs 3 oz. Way to go girl! I'm happy she's growing great, but also sad that this means she'll outgrow her newborn clothes before she knows it!

Also, we decided to name her Avery Jane Hill. Kirtis wanted Avery Kristine (Kristine is my middle name). But while I was in the hospital I kept wanting to call her Avery Jane, so I said, let's just name her that.
Anyway, she's a doll and our biggest fear for her is getting picked up or jumped on by her big brother! He LOVES her and is starting to get more "comfortable" with her. So we are always on guard!
