I bit the bullet

I just got my new bike. I feel like a little kid. I love it. It's super cute. Also the perfect "hybrid" bike for me. Rugged, yet fast. I love it. I can't wait to pull my kids all over the neighborhood.

Anyone wanna go for a ride?

Which one is your fave?

Since my mom is in town, we planned a little photo session with her. Despite the uncooperative kids, and a camera she had never used before, we got some cute shots!
We found this old church when we went exploring in Haymarket.

We took these pictures on our recent trip to Thailand.
JK! We found this random bamboo patch in Haymarket too. Jackson was convinced there would be a Panda Bear in their since they like to eat Bamboo so much. He didn't find one.

This is the only smile from this little stinker we got all night. :)

Dad

April 2008

Dad died one year ago today.

It's sad to think about all the life we've experienced without him.

However, in the midst of those sad thoughts, I've been filled with so much peace and gratitude.

Gratitude first for my knowledge of the gospel, for the resurrection and the surety we have of seeing and being with our dad again.

Gratitude also for the wonderful family that I have now. I haven't been able to find the time to go and curl up and have a good cry because of my two sweet kiddos showering me with love and kisses and the joy their sweet spirits bring to me. I just have a feeling that instead of spending my time in my own sadness, Dad would want me to instead show some extra love to my kids, my husband and the people around me.

That's just the kind of person he was. Always giving and showing love to those around him.
In memory of my dad, I will try to be a little more like he was.

A little less selfish, a little more kind. A little more forgiving. And a lot more loving and thoughtful.

I have a long way to go, but will try to live the legacy he gave to me. To show people the kind of love that he would have shown if he were still with us.

I love you dad.
And I miss you.

Maybe I'll be lucky.

I've been wanting a bike to pull my kids around in for awhile. We've done some shopping but I just can't pull the trigger.
If I'm really lucky, maybe I'll just win one of these instead!
Here's how to enter the contest.

I'm also going to try doing garage sale-ing. Wish me luck!

What the kids are saying

I just have to write down a couple things the kids say for posterity's sake, and before I forget about them.

Instead of saying "each other" Jackson ALWAYS says "heavenlych-other". As in, "Avery and I really love "heavnlychother" huh, mom." I think it's so cute. So listen closely next time you talk to him.

Also, Jackson has perfect faith. We've been planting some veggies in pots on our deck and we check on them several times a day! One plant didn't get planted in time, and died. Jackson said an entire prayer that it would come back to life.
So sweet. He also demands we sing their preschool prayer song, "God our father" complete with sign language before each meal.
I even catch him singing primary songs to himself at times. He's such a good little boy.

Avery, well, she doesn't really talk yet, but she sure does make cute sounds. She's always making this nasally/chirping sound (hard to describe). I promise it is more cute than gross. She's kind of like a little bird chirping away. She's so happy and she's started nodding when we ask her questions. Her vocab consists of "mama", "dada", "jaja", "baba-a-baba" (grandma and grandpa) and "more".
I just love this toddling and bouncing around age. Her and Jackson have started playing more- they love to chase each other and give hugs and kisses.

I feel so blessed to have such sweet kids.
