Jackson turned 5!!

I can't believe that he's really FIVE. It feels so much older than 4. Like he's made the leap from little kid, to a big kid. He told us he can jump farther, and reach higher now that he is five, and I believe it. He just seems so grown up. Here's a few favorites from the celebrations:
Here he is on his "real" birthday. He chose to go to El Tio's for dinner, and they brought him sombrero to wear and his own ice cream. It was adorable and he loved it. (Too bad the only pic is on my cell phone and I can't figure out how to get it off!)
He has wanted a dragon cake since the moment his dinosaur party ended last year. He knows what he wants! So we went with a Knight/Dragon theme since he loves Knights so much too.

I love how he's got the attention of every birthday guest!

Poor dad didn't get the best seat in the house.
Kirtis and Travis totally took on the indoor scavenger hunt/stampede. Luckily nobody got hurt. It was pretty dang exciting!
Avery and Natalie hanging out after.
Here's the kids playing Knights. I think Hugh is outnumbered.
We coudn't figure out who this guy was but the kids sure thought he was funny.
Aunts and Uncles and soon-to-be uncles came too! (Sorry hugh, just had to let you know we accidentally call you uncle hugh all the time!) Thanks for making the drive and joining the craziness guys!
Birthday friends! We are so lucky that Jackson has so many good friends! Afterwards, Jackson told us it was THE BEST BIRTHDAY ever! That made me feel so good because it sure is a lot of work for a mom (and grandma!) Huge thank you to Kristi for all she did. I have the best family!
Love you Jackson! Can't believe you are so grown up! We are so proud of you.

Funny things..

Overheard in the car:
Jackson to Avery: "When I go to school next year make sure you wake up really early so we can have lots of playtime before I leave for school."
Avery: "Okay, Ga-ga."

Also, today the kids had a friend over and went on a "vacation." I was so glad they were upstairs using their imagination. Then I went upstairs to discover they had taken EVERY SINGLE toy out of their rooms and placed them on the floor of my bedroom. Nice.

Avery's language is exploding right now.
Some of her new favorite words and phrases:
When she wants something at the store: "Mom, buy me ?"
"happy happy happy"
"no way!"
"goway mom!"
This one is funny. She says "Sh up, mom!" (After a long conversation with older brother about what NOT to say. Dang!) Talk about sassy pants.
Also, "ILuvU"
"Color"- She's always coloring everything! Walls, every little scrap of paper she can find, her body. You name it.
She's turning into my sweet little troublemaker.
Here she is right now:

You say tomato, I say....

These babies needed a new home.
Luckily I have a couple master gardeners living right under my roof.
Here they are soaking up some sun in their roomier pots!
Disclaimer: I'm a total novice at gardening. Just figuring it out as I go. :) I haven't had a summer where we haven't moved in about 3 years. So I'm really hoping this is the year to see my plants from start to finish. I started these seeds at the end of Jan, and I think that was a bit premature, I didn't know they would already be so big! We still have at least a month or more before they can go outside.

Camera unload

Need i say more?
My mom is here and it's HEAVEN.
We went to the bounce place this week to get the kids out.
Jackson LOOOOOVES it.
He loves these boats from target too. So much that I had to take a picture.
I think they are already lost though.
Jackson wanted to sell lemonade last Saturday. It was FREEZING outside, so I wasn't sure what he had in mind. Then he set this up, and I loved his idea. Indoor lemonade stand. Just my style.

I love my life.

We had a gorgeous day here.
Jackson's and his darling cousin played together most of the day. They are so cute together.

It was sunny and warm.
I painted my toenails.
I made lazagna soup, (thanks to my sister in law who always gives me awesome recipes!)
and homemade bread - (Check out this book)
We walked to the playground. (What a difference it makes to your spirit to be able to breathe fresh air!)
Had a lovely friend and her lovely daughters for dinner.
Ate snickerdoodles. (yum!)
I got giant kisses from Jackson all over my face at bedtime.
Avery can now say "I love you". It's just one long-sticky-syllable. But there's nothing more perfect than those words from her chubby little face.
I love being a mom.

Avery asleep on the couch today! Love those chubby lips!
