First day of school

Jackson was so excited to go to Kindergarten! He started school on Sept 7.
What a cutie!
The backpack
The whole family walked him to the bus stop.
Both Grandmas were able to be there. Here's us with Gramma H.
And Gramma M.
Waiting for the bus
The whole bus stop
Avery wasn't sure what to think
We were able to snap a quick picture before the bus driver told me to get off the bus. :)
I cried as we watched the bus pull out. I made some of the other moms of older kids cry too!
We totally forgot about Avery while we were getting Jackson on the bus! She'll get her fair share of attention at home by herself this year though.

I just can't believe my little boy is going to school. He absolutely LOVES it. Everyone told me to be prepared for the tiredness and crankiness as they adjust to school. (We have full day kindergarten here.) So far we have had no problem. (knock on wood!) He comes home happy and talking about friends and recess and cute girls. Kindergarten is right up his alley. We are so proud of you Jackson!

Hiking in prince william forest

The last few weeks we've tried to pack in some more activities since summer is getting away with us!
My brother Ryan was super-dad for a weekend while my sister-in-law went to her brother's wedding. We went hiking one morning a few weeks ago with him in Prince William Forest.

It was serious fun business. I love prince william forest! There was so much to explore and discover. We need to go back more often.
They found a hidden treasure. (A geocache... is that what it's called?)
Climbed some really cool rocks
It was a great adventure with their cousins!

Meet the teacher day

Kindergarten is DAYS away! We went to Jackson's "Meet the teacher" this afternoon. It was just perfect. His teacher is darling. She's taught for 5 years- she seems to be very on top of things and is super nice to boot. I couldn't be more pleased.

I wasn't expecting it, but as soon as I walked in the classroom- I was just teary-eyed. Everything looked just perfect. Cute things on the walls, blocks, cubbies, markers, and crayons in bins. Just like in the Berenstein Bears "Go to school" book (which we've read a LOT recently). I just couldn't believe that the time was really here and that my little baby boy is all grown up. I'm so excited for him, but I also know I'm going to be a little bit of a wreck on the first day.

The kiddos got to go on a bus ride around the school (Jackson loved it!) and see the cafeteria, their classroom and we got Jackson a school spirit shirt which he was excited to wear as soon as he got home. The school mascot is the Knights, which couldn't be more perfect for Jackson. I won't forget my camera for the first day of school!
