December Wrap up (so far!)

My poor little blog. So neglected. Meanwhile we have been making many happy memories, but I feel like without recording them here, they just don't get the recognition they deserve. Plus highlighting the happy times in our lives helps me feel grateful for all those little things.... just another great reason to blog.
I've been on facebook more often, but find it so much less gratifying than blogging. I really struggle to post something clever and interesting in just one fantastic sentence. Too much pressure for me! Here I can ramble on as I please, and if you don't want to read it, you definitely don't have to. But if you are reading... thanks for taking the time to read about the little things in our life! It means so much to get a comment, and to know that I am blessed with so many great friends that really do care!

With that said, it has been a fantastic month so far.
The biggest event of this month was that we pulled the trigger and decided to start homeschooling. That decision could be a whole post on its own, but we've been doing it for 2 weeks and I have to admit it has been incredibly rewarding. The best benefit so far is being able to spend more time with our sweet Jackson boy. The kids have been working hard and are such amazing little sponges.  They have already memorized 3 short poems. It is so cute that we videotaped it.

Grandma Hill visited for Thanksgiving and gave the kids "magic Christmas pillows".

The kids made Gingerbread Houses with Grandma Messick
I turned 31! (And found a lot of grey hairs in the last few months! Woo-hoo!)
The kids' first day of home school
We bought new Christmas Stockings (This was a big deal to me! I wanted personalized homemade stockings, but knew I would never get that kind of project done, so we ordered them from Lands End. I was so happy I cried when they came! I know, such a dork.) Also, you can see from this pic that this was the night the kids decorated the Christmas tree! All the ornaments are on the bottom of the tree! :)
Avery has been "composing" her own music. She is always drawing pictures with music notes on them, and then dragging chairs into the piano room so she can perform for us. :)
Lucy turned 4 months old! She is very loved!

Santa came to our street on the fire truck!

Our Family

This is a "snapshot" my mom got of us after church. Most of us were still in our church clothes. One of us (I'm not going to name names!) insisted on wearing red. I think it's cute anyway!

Isn't this sweet?

Sweet Lucy! I love that we took this pictures on my childhood bed. My mom took these of course!

Lucy 2 Months Old

Yes, it was inevitable. I'm months and months behind on this blog that I used to be so good about updating! I guess that's one thing that's had to go with the arrival of #3. I have been careful to take lots of pictures of Lucy though, they just haven't been shared with all the world!
She's a sweet baby and we love her.

Love the "bird" face. So cute. Looks like she's ready to be fed a worm!

Jackson and Avery Fishing at Lake Douthat

We had a beautiful weekend at Douthat State Park last weekend. Jackson caught his first fish--- all by himself! It was a big day- and Avery was very jealous (if you listen closely you'll hear her saying, "Hey, I didn't get one, dad!")  Kirtis caught all the action on video.

Sweet Lucy Lucy Goosy

We love this little baby. We HAVE been taking lots of pictures of her. Just haven't found the time to share them! She will be seven weeks old on Friday. It has gone so quickly and she has already grown so much. She is starting to respond to us more and more and we've caught a few smiles from her. She's a sweet baby and loves to snuggle....and she gets lots and lots of love and attention from her big brother and sister.

Can you guess which one is the real baby? Avery loves to treat her little Lucy like a baby doll and helps mommy get her dressed and give her baths.

Lucy's First 2 weeks

These are all pictures from Lucy's first two weeks...

Avery playing baby doll with Lucy and her other babies. So stinkin cute! Lucy is not much bigger than her dollies!
Nothing better than a wrapped up baby!

The grams taking a break from helping with baby to play Jacks. They laughed so hard remembering the tricks from their childhood. They are both super good!
Avery playing with her buddies- the neighbor girls from across the street: Terry and Janice

My awesome friend Melanni threw me an amazing baby shower! I don't have other pics from the shower- but she made this AMAZING diaper cake!
Avery is so sweet to Lucy. We had no adjustment problems! Just kids that looooove their new baby!
Lucy loves sucking on her fingers!
 Such a GREAT big brother!
 So snuggly! Love her toesies.
Baby asleep on dad. (Dad almost asleep too!)

Love this one of Jackson. Can't you see how much he loves his sister in those eyes?

These are too precious. I love these pics that my mom took of our dear little Lucy.

Lucy's Birth

August 12, 2011. Lucy was born! I went in to be induced in the morning and she was born at 2:00pm. I had the best labor. The epidural turned out perfectly, and everything was just so much easier this time around. I was laughing at the end because I couldn't believe they were telling me the baby was actually coming! It seemed so much easier than the other births.
We were so excited to find out if Lucy was a boy or girl. Definitely made the BIRTH day super exciting!!

This was actually my second trip to the hospital that week. Lucy was born on Friday the 12th, but I thought my water broke earlier in the week on Tuesday. The doc said to go to the hospital, so I called Kirtis at work- and he came and took me in- but it was a false alarm.
The funny part is that he was giving a presentation to about 30 or so people. He told them all that his wife was pregnant and due any day, so he would be leaving his phone on. He apologized if it rang, but explained that it might be his wife calling to tell him to get home. So, I called, and they were on a break. Someone heard his phone ring and told everyone to be quiet. When he was talking to me, he said the words, "It's go time!"- and the whole group clapped and cheered- and he headed home.
Very fun story-- too bad I didn't go into labor that day!

Stretching out before I would be in bed for awhile!
We listened to music on the Ipad and played games and tried to figure out a boy name while we waited for the action. It was a good thing Lucy was a girl, because we didn't have a good boy name ready to go!
Kirtis, mom and Kristi were all able to be there for Lucy's birth! We had an awesome delivery nurse. I wish I could say the same for the recovery nurses. (We left the hospital the 2nd day because they were so unhelpful.

First bath- they wouldn't let us back for her bath- but grabbed our camera for the event. It looks like she liked her first bath about as much as our other babies!
Jackson and Avery meeting their new baby sister!
They were so excited! Lucy couldn't be more lucky to have J and A to love on her!
 crying baby - still cute!

heading home! opened her eyes for a peep at the world.

 aaaw! scrunched up face!
Nothing is better than a newborn babe! She is our little gift from heaven!
