Sunday thoughts

Great wonderful busy week. My sister Rhonda is in town. (Everyone at church today thought she was me and Ruby was Avery. Pretty hilarious, but a little annoying for Rhonda!)

Aquarium on Friday. I LOOOOVE the aquarium with my kids. We used to have a membership, so my kids know Zoe (the zebra shark) and Calypso (the sea turtle) by name and love seeing them. Jackson brought a notebook (for observations) and a checklist to check off which type of Sharks he saw. He is so into his ocean animals- I love it. I took him out of school for the trip and didn't feel even a teeny bit guilty. It did end up  taking 2.5 hours to get home-thank you DC traffic--but still worth the trip.

My house looks like *&@8^ . If I were a swearer I'd fill in the blank there.  We seem to make messes at home, then just run over to Grandmas to play and hang out.
Every week I say, things will calm down when I get more organized and just get things cleaned out, but some very wise moms have informed me that life just doesn't calm down. My sweet husband is kind to remind me that this is the life we chose- to have kids who make messes and a house to mess up. We just need to be happy that we have those things.

I do feel so blessed. My kids are adorable and sweet and kind- with just a few tantrums (by an increasingly stubborn 3 year-old) mixed in. I am often short on patience, and I'm not by any means the most amazing mother, but my kids are  somehow blossoming despite many parental shortcomings.

Tomorrow is Monday- my love/hate day! I love it because I'm so motivated to clean and get things checked off my list, but hate it because it's the day I'm most likely to feel overwhelmed. My laundry is piled high, my floors are grimy, so I say, bring it on!

Does anyone else love/hate Mondays like me?

Silly kids on Sunday

I think this one is my favorite!

The rest of the pics are all SILLY!
It's hard for my kids to be anything but silly.... :)

T.G.I.F

I've never made whoopie pies before, but it sounded fun for a FRIDAY.

Plus, since it got up to 70 degrees today, it sounded fun to bake something with the back door open.
Divine!
Kindergarten is too long.
We need Jackson home so we can enjoy these!
Here's my cute kitchen help!

Winter Fun

Happy Valentine's Day!
It's good to be back to blogging.
Here's what we did last week:

Trying to make the most of winter:

It was freezing last Wednesday when we decided to have a backyard weenie roast- and SO windy! I should have checked the weather - a storm was rolling in- but we still had fun! We'll have to do it again this week- we're supposed to be in the high 40's!

Saturday was such a fun day- I had a Valentine's piano recital at the nursing home in our town. It turned out so great! I was so nervous for my first recital as a teacher. My students all did fantastic- and at the end, I had one of my high school students who is a great singer, sing a song while I accompanied. The students all made valentines for the nursing home residents to give away and I made cookies to pass out as well. The parents loved it too! It was so rewarding to see all the progress my students have made! Most of them are brand new to piano, and it was their first recital as well. We will have to make it annual event!

After I got home, Jackson wanted to fly his dragon kite SO badly! It was a nice and cold windy day. (It never seems to be windy enough when it's warm outside!) So we bucked up and enjoyed watching "Mighty" fly high in the sky.

Avery's first ballet class

Avery started ballet class in January. It's pretty much the cutest thing you've ever seen. And she absolutely loves it. She's always asking me, "Is it Thursday??" (That's the day ballet class is!)

Natalie and Avery "practicing" before class starts.

Watching the tap class, waiting for their turn.

Doing so great!

Listening to Ms. Lisa

Making the snowflakes wiggle! (On the ceiling)
This class was really perfect timing for Avery. She really needed something to do this year when Jackson went off to school, but I wasn't ready for a preschool or co-op. It's fun for her to have her "own thing". And of course, as a mom, I think she's the cutest and the best little ballerina of the bunch.  :)

Last of the Utah Pics

More snow! Yeah!!
Okay it's sad that it's taken me 2 months to finish posting these pictures!

She was easy to spot! A pink blob in all that white!
The Thanksgiving Point Dinosaur Museum is right next to Kristi's house and the kids were BEGGING to go.  We headed over on New Years Day and it wasn't too busy.  (Sorry we couldn't meet up with you lynette-dang snow!!)

It makes me laugh that they wanted to play with the toy dinosaurs. We have so many at home!

Love the sand and water area!

Scary dinosaur faces!

Are you scared yet?

"Digging" for dinosaur bones.

The kids had a ball! I love how that museum is so designed for little kids. It seems like there's not too many indoor places out here for little kiddos. (Maybe I just don't know about them!) We have so many awesome museums- but they're not really designed for kids to explore. I guess that's one thing I miss about Utah.

How we told my mother-in-law the big news and Christmas morning pics

The "waiting on the stairs" picture!

Checking out the load!

Avery's stash: Remote Control Baby Dinosaur -all she wanted from Santa!

Opening some presents

I love that my kids love each other so much!

The fam hanging out at Grams house

Polly and girls in their new PJ's and snow hats.
Here's how we told Kristi we were expecting: this was the last Christmas gift........

Right now she's thinking.....is this a rectal thermometer?

It's starting to process.....

Polly figured it out!!

And now Kristi! :)

Happy tears!
