Ballet Class

Avery had a ballet "performance" last week. All the parents were invited into the class to watch what they have learned. It is so much fun to watch! Avery is very graceful and takes all of it very seriously. She loves to stand right in front of the ballet teacher, and never takes her eyes off of her, always trying to do everything perfectly.

Ms. Lisa is absolutely fabulous- and pretty much the most patient lady I've ever seen!

I think they were all waiting their turns to do "grand jete"- where they get to leap over the flowers.

Ahh! Look at those pointy toes. (They practice "ugly feet"- "beautiful feet")

This is the basket- I think they just do it as a stretch. I wish I could do that right now!

She just loves her class. She wishes she had ballet everyday. She has learned all these french ballet terms, and I am always trying to remember what they are, but she knows them all. Here's a few she's learned:

shopping with the grandmas

The hat didn't come home with us, but she had fun trying them all on at Charming Charlies. This is my first mobile blog post, so we'll see how it turns out!

A happy birthday boy

Just a snippet of a fun-filled weekend for our now 6-year old boy.
He requested El Tios for his birthday dinner. They brought him ice cream and a sombrero for his B'day!
Ay ay aye!

Brown Bear, Brown bear, what do you see?

"This is the best week ever!" exclaimed a happy 5 year old boy this morning.
Here's why:

*He was chosen to be "star of the week" at school this week! He made an "all about me" poster that will be displayed all week in the classroom.
*He got to take the class "brown bear" home for the weekend.
*His grandma Hill is on her way to visit!
*It's his birthday this weekend!
For an almost 6-year-old, this is as good as it gets!

The kids had so much fun showing Brown Bear around- playing on the playground and he even helped Daddy make pancakes!

Now Grandma will be here and birthday fun is on it's way!

I have recently been introduced to a website called Swagbucks. In just about 3 weeks I have earned $10 (for doing NOTHING!) which I have redeemed for Amazon gift cards, which I've used to go towards diapers (I got a jumbo pack- Amazon priced $31.00, I paid just $15 (free shipping) after using discounts and swagbucks.
For more about these deals and tips on how to earn swagbucks, check out

The points have added up faster than I was expecting, and I haven't done anything except for everyday web searching that I would do anyway.  So far, every time I've wanted to buy something on Amazon (reading books for my son, diapers for my diaper stash) - I've had a 5 dollar gift card to use on my purchase. It's little things like that that really add up.

Basically, you just download their toolbar, and use their search function any time you would search for something on the web.

If you do decide to join, I would love it if you use any of the links in this post, then I'll also earn points when you earn points.

Have a loverly weekend!

Pregnancy Hormones

I am loving the surge of energy these pregnancy hormones are giving me right now.
The nesting instinct has hit hard and I've been cleaning out drawers and obsessing over every corner of my house, and dreaming of organization in every corner. As I'm not really a naturally organized person, it has actually kept me up at night, thinking of everything I want to do and how I can get it all done before the baby comes! I know that this feeling won't last forever, so for now, I'm trying to take advantage of all the productivity, and see how far I get.

Projects this pregnancy:
organized my closet
made labels for the kids toy bins
painted laundry room, chose fabric for a curtain and got it ordered (still need to sew the curtain)
Ripped out towel bar in kids bath and replaced with hooks
Re-organized all my bathroom stuff.
Made new file system for kitchen papers
Started making bunkbeds with Kirtis for J and A's room. Found the plans here! I want to make everything on the site! I'm glad Kirtis is handy. :)

Still to do......

New shower curtain/rugs/stool for kids bath
Find new dresser or system for kids clothes for room sharing.
Finish Kids bunkbeds
Find new bedding and curtains for kids room
Paint Kristi's room
Paint kids rooms
Paint Piano Room
Organize the basement - (totally dreading this one!!!)
Sell tons of stuff on craigslist and ebay.
Garage- (ditto!) I keep finding more cute little projects on blogs.

Check out this beautiful quilt my friend made. She is due any day. See what I mean??

Bow organizing idea

Yesterday, I googled "bow organizing ideas", because Avery's bows are all currently stuffed in a drawer. Last night, after piano was over and the kids were tucked in bed, I found this......

......a perfect solution! Ha ha.

I walked in on Avery reading to her babies yesterday. It totally melted my heart. I
She made sure each one was tucked in and comfortable before she began reading.
She told me she wanted to have 100 babies when she grew up.
....And that she wanted to name one of them - me. "You want to name one of them Gina, like mommy's name?"  Yes. :)
I could eat her up.
Don't grow another second, Avery Jane.
